This diagram will make all connections for the DSM motor
to run. Allot of effort has been made to allow all
warning lights and gauges to work as well. You can
check your engine codes through the Starion diagnostic
plug in the glovebox. Power will be supplied to
the ECU the same reliable way that it was to the Starion
ECU. You do not need to add any fuses. The
diagram here taps into power sources that are already
protected. This way, when you pull the "ECI"
fusible link, you will still be disconnecting the IGN
power to the ECU. Your ECU and fuel pump will
still shut off with a delay of 7 seconds just as it did
in the DSM. The Top (black) half of the diagram are
DSM connections and the lower half (gray) has Starion
plugs. Red lines indicate wires that need to be
ran by you. White lines are simply connections
from one harness to the other.
I recommend cutting the female
B-38 plug from the Starion motor harness and
soldering it to the DSM motor harness. This will
allow you to make all but a few solders outside of the
car and will cut your solders down considerably compared
to soldering your own plugs like I did. Don't cut
any plugs off of the passenger compartment side of the
DSM motor harness or Starion chassis harness. They
are a good reference for trouble shooting and tracing
wires down the road.
The "+12V" connection on
the DSM side is the wire hooked to the fusible link box
that is attached to the DSM's positive battery terminal.
You can cut this wire off and run it back towards where
you plan to attached to B-38.
B-38 will supply the power
to the ECU. This is your IGN power for the ECU
(injectors, sensors, etc.). It traces back to the
"ECI" fusible link coming off of the Starion battery.

links click here.
The "Oil Switch" and "Oil
Pressure" wires will need to be run through the
firewall and attached to the switch and sender
respectively. I stripped the MAS branch of the
harness. This branch contains most of the
un-needed accessories and integrated DSM bullshit.
I then ran the 2 oil wires through this branch. since
the oil unit resides close to the MAS.
The "Oil Light" and "CEL"
will need to be installed wherever you see fit as they
were never on the Starion cluster. The manual says
that the oil light should come on when oil pressure
drops below 4.3psi (wish it wasn't so low). But we
can wire up a BIG light or possibly a buzzer for this.
I also recommend using plugs on the fuel pump,
tachometer, oil and check engine lights. It is
important that all wires can be unplugged for
troubleshooting and removal purposes. |
